Peter Sasieni - Professor of Cancer Epidemiology and Centre Lead for Cancer Screening, Prevention & Early Diagnosis, Wolfson Institute of Population Research, Queen Mary University of London
Professor Peter Sasieni is Professor of Cancer Epidemiology and joint lead of the Centre for Cancer Screening, Prevention and Early Diagnosis and Director of the Cancer Research UK Cancer Prevention Trials Unit -at QMUL (CPTU).
His background is in mathematical statistics and epidemiology and he has conducted cancer screening research and clinical trials for many years.
He is currently a lead (or co-lead) investigator on several large grants including: The NHS-Galleri trial of GRAIL’s multi-cancer early detection test in population screening; The CRUK-NIHR funded BEST4 platform studying the use of a Cytosponge in screening and surveillance of patients with heartburn; Two clinical trials funded by Yorkshire Cancer Research; and two Cancer Research UK programme grants.
He is also Fellow of the Academy of Medical Sciences and was awarded the 2023 Don Listwin Award for outstanding contribution to cancer early detection.
In 2024 he was awarded Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to cancer early detection and prevention.

Dr Becks Fisher is Director of Research and Policy at the Nuffield Trust, and a salaried GP in Oxford. An experienced mixed methods-researcher and policy analyst, Becks is particularly interested in health system financing, and in policies supporting the delivery of high quality primary care. Becks publishes and presents widely, sits on multiple national advisory committees and appears frequently in print and broadcast media. She is also co-founder of Next Generation GP, a national leadership programme for early-career GPs.
Previously a Harkness Fellow in the USA, senior policy fellow at the Health Foundation and a fellow at the University of Oxford, Becks is Honorary Professor of Health Policy and Primary Care at Queen Mary University London. She works to improve health and care in the UK with better evidence-led policy
