Profile

In my PhD research, I am interested in the question of how the native linguistic system changes after individuals spend an extended amount of time in an area in which a second dialect of their native language is spoken. Specifically, I am interested in the case of geographically mobile French speakers, who move between France and Quebec. I use experimental methods to test the extent to which these speakers’ production and perception of their native phonetic categories have shifted as a result of second dialect exposure.
