Profile

Dr Louis Strange completed his PhD at QMUL in 2022, funded by the ESRC’s LISS DTP. His research focussed on the field of linguistic landscapes and debates surrounding the legalisation of abortion in Ireland, including how issues of gender and national identity surface in signage commenting on or advocating for or against liberalisation of abortion laws.
Thesis title: Gender and National Identity in the Linguistic Landscape of the Eighth Amendment Referendum Campaign
After completing the PhD in 2022, Dr Louis Strange joined the University of Glasgow as a Lecturer in Linguistics.
