Micro-discourse Data Analysis Session | Elvis Coimbra Gomes

14 March 2018

Time: 2:00 - 3:30pm
Venue: Bancroft 1.01.2

Elvis Coimbra Gomes will provide snippets from online forum messages written by male SO-OCD (Sexual Orientation Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder) sufferers. The aim will be to share general impressions about the data, specifically focusing on how these people conceptualize the coming out process. Elvis’s data can be accessed here: MDA_180314_Elvis Gomes_data. He will provide printed copies for annotation in the session itself.

In the data session we will watch/listen to the recording a few times before spending 10-15 minutes on independent analysis and making notes. Then we’ll go around the room sharing initial observations before spending the rest of the session on open discussion.

If you’re completely new to data sessions, check out page two of this flyer from University of Colorado Boulder for a description of what it’s all about.
