Intellectual property and commercialisation

Queen Mary Innovation (QMI) supports researchers to translate ideas into impact through intellectual property, licensing, and enterprise.

Our goal is to make a positive social and economic impact in all that we do. Over 35 spin out companies have developed from Queen Mary research, and more than 400 intellectual property agreements entered into. To get involved or find out more, you can contact Queen Mary Innovation.

Developing new approaches to tackling obesity

Obesity remains a major public-health challenge, creating demand for safe and effective products that can support long-term weight management.

Researchers from Queen Mary helped develop an appetite-suppressing product designed to help people feel fuller for longer. The innovation was translated from research into a commercial venture through collaboration between academic researchers, industry expertise and investment support.

The product demonstrates how research can move beyond the laboratory to create practical solutions with the potential to benefit people's health and wellbeing.
