Knowledge Exchange
Working together to solve real-world challenges
The biggest challenges facing society cannot be solved by universities alone. At Queen Mary, we work with businesses, communities, policymakers, public services and cultural organisations to turn knowledge, expertise and ideas into positive change.
By sharing expertise, developing new ideas together and building long-term partnerships, we create benefits for society and the economy while ensuring our research and teaching remain connected to the needs of the world around us. Whether we are supporting innovation and entrepreneurship, informing public policy, helping organisations access specialist expertise, or working with local communities to tackle shared challenges, collaboration is at the heart of what we do.
Within higher education, this work is known as Knowledge Exchange: the exchange of knowledge, expertise and ideas between universities and the wider world for mutual benefit. We recognise that knowledge flows in all directions, with universities learning from partners and communities just as much as they share their own expertise.
