Graduates have excellent career prospects, with 93% in employment or further study within six months of graduating, 100% of those in employment are in highly skilled jobs and 100% are earning over the median salary. The average UK salary for our postgraduate students 15 months after graduating is £29,500 – That’s over £6,000 higher than the national average (HESA GOS, 2017/18.)

During your studies you'll have access to support at every stage in your degree, including one-to-one academic guidance, tailored workshops and external guest speakers. The school also has a dedicated Careers Consultant and the careers team run several sector specific events throughout the year. Further to this, you can make use of our strong links with industry partners including the Environment Agency; Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew; the Natural History Museum; the Institute of Zoology, the Darwin Tree of Life Project, Sanofi, Syngenta, Cefas, Resurgo Genetics and Nature Metrics.

The rare combination of knowledge you will gain of genome analysis, ecology and evolution along with the high-demand data science skills are applicable to many lines of work will set you up for a brilliant career or PhD. The soft skills you will develop from your programme including communication, teamworking, problem solving and time management will be applicable to any career you choose.
