I can't attend

Please use this guidance in the event that you are unable to attend your graduation.

We understand that sometimes personal circumstances mean you may not be able to attend your graduation. This can be incredibly frustrating and upsetting, and to provide clarity, we have outlined some guidance below. 

Your tickets, transfers and refunds

All tickets are non-transferable and cannot be transferred between graduands, ceremonies or ceremony periods.

Tickets are non-refundable. The only exception to this rule is students who experience academic failure, or students who are unable to attend in the instance transport strikes are announced. Refund requests must be made by emailing before midday on the refund deadline.

The refund deadline for April ceremonies will be 8 May 2024 (Midday)

The refund deadline for January ceremonies was Friday 26 January 2024. 

Requests can take up to 28 days. Refund requests made after the deadline cannot be processed.


Students who’ve not successfully completed their course

Students who have not successfully completed their course must email to request a refund.

Requests for a refund will then be reviewed and verified against your student record before a refund is issued to the credit/debit card used to make the booking. This process may take up to 28 days. Refund requests after the deadline cannot be processed. We regret to inform you that we are unable to offer transfer of funds between ceremonies and/or graduation periods.

Gown refund policy is set by Marston Events. Please contact if you wish to request a refund. 

Photography can be refunded as per package selection. 

Deferring your graduation

If you are unable to attend graduation and would like to defer until a later date, please complete  this form  to inform us of when you would like to graduate instead. This means that you have been added to a mailing list to receive updates about graduation ceremonies. 

This is not a confirmation of attendance or a ticket. This is also not considered a request for a refund and your payment will not automatically be transferred to the next Graduation ceremony, please see the section above, ‘Refunding Your Order’ on details on how to receive a refund. 

To secure a ticket for your graduation, it is your responsibility to monitor the website ( for updates on when and how to book in the months leading up to your ceremony. If you have not been successful in booking a ticket 10 weeks before your ceremony date, then please contact the Events and Ceremonies Team at
