Project title: Project: UV harvesting interlayers for photon recycling in 3rd generation photovoltaics

Supervisor: Dr Stoichko Dimitrov

Content: UV causes device damage and is currently proving very elusive to harvest in solar cells. Organic materials produced by Christian Nielsen's group will be put to the test in the solar cell architecture, as they hold great promise for this. A laser spectroscopy setup must be built for these objectives to be fulfilled, in the shorter term.

The project will include the following activities/objectives:

 - Synthesis of derivatives of T-P semiconductors.

 - Laser spectroscopy experiments to uniquely resolve the key emission and charge transport processes during operation.

 - Implementation of the UV layers in perovskite PV devices and their processing optimisation.
