Undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University


Graduate studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with an emphasis on experimental plasma physics and magnetic reconnection.  Advisor: Jan Egedal.  Member of the Terrestrial Reconnection EXperiment (TREX) group, studying magnetic reconnection in low-collisionality plasmas to understand space reconnection processes, namely that between the solar wind and the Earth's magnetosphere.

Began collaborating with Bill Daughton and Adam Stanier at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in 2018 to simulate TREX using the newest version of LANL's custom particle-in-cell code VPIC. Work with this version of VPIC (specifically, cylindrical VPIC) was continued on into 2019 with the receipt of a Student Fellowship from LANL's Center for Space and Earth Sciences (CSES).  

Worked as a postdoc at UW-Madison for several months after graduating to finish up remaining experimental and simulation work.  Was hired by Chris Chen to work in the Space, Solar, and Astrophysical Plasmas here at Queen Mary.  Currently continuing both experimental work and simulations of particular experimental setups with our collaborators at the LArge Plasma Device (LAPD) in Los Angeles, California.

Research

Research Interests:

My research interests are primarily based around lab plasma experiments; conceptualizing them, designing them, running them, analyzing them, etc.  My simulation work is done specifically with a focus on simulating experiments themselves, including hardware-driven currents, vessel walls, and geometric particularities.  My work here at QMUL will be in collaboration with our partners at the LArge Plasma Device (LAPD) in Los Angeles, expanding on the work Chris has already done with Alfvenic turbulence.  Prior to QMUL, my work was mainly focused on magnetic reconnection.
