Dr. Zhang's research primarily centers on the environmental chemistry of pollutants, encompassing heavy metals, nanomaterials, and microplastics, and their consequential effects on both the environment and human health. A pivotal facet of his research involves unraveling the intricacies of chemical and biological reactions occurring at the biointerface. This understanding serves as a cornerstone for comprehending the behavior and ultimate fate of contaminants and materials within the environment. Furthermore, his investigations delve into the intricate interactions between contaminants/materials and biological organisms, unveiling critical 
insights into their dynamics. His research also expands to the application of nanotechnology by developing nano-based solutions designed to foster environmental and agricultural sustainability
