The Queen Mary Intellectual Property Research Institute (QMIPRI) is a founding member of the Pan-European Seal Professional Traineeship Programme

The Pan-European Seal is a Professional IP Traineeship Programme that covers many academic areas. It is promoted in partnership by two of the world’s largest Intellectual Property offices, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in Alicante, Spain, and the European Patent Office (EPO) in Munich, Germany, together with their strategic University partners.

Under the Pan-European Seal, students on the MSc Management of Intellectual Property Law and the LLM in Intellectual Property Law programmes at Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) may apply for a 12-month paid traineeship at the EUIPO or the EPO, to help them to get a foot in the door of the competitive world of IP through valuable on-the-job multicultural professional work experience.

Training will take place at the EUIPO or at the EPO, with a monthly training allowance, as well as other benefits. Trainees will also benefit from on-the-job coaching by staff, as well as online training and, if applicable, language courses.

How to apply

Current QMUL IP students apply to and are shortlisted by QMUL for consideration by the EPO / EUIPO. You will be provided with further information about the programme and how to apply in May each year.

The EPO / EUIPO evaluate the shortlist of five QMUL candidates (per Office) for access to the Pan-European Seal Programme. If you are successful you will be offered a traineeship agreement with EUIPO / EPO for a duration of 12 months starting in October each year. The contractual relation is between the selected candidate and the EUIPO or the EPO.
