Our flexible MSc Mathematics programme allows you to tailor your degree to your interests and passion
Our MSc Mathematics programme is a flexible course that opens doors to further research or top careers requiring advanced mathematical ability. Mathematics graduates are in high demand across industry, due to their rigorous numerical skills, problem-solving capabilities and analytical approach. Our alumni have gone on to roles in research (PhD), statistical analysis, technology consulting, auditing, software engineering, teaching and more, working across the public and private sectors.
The programme consists of eight taught modules (seven of which can be chosen according to your own areas of interest) and a project and dissertation. You will start with a compulsory module in Research Methods in Mathematical Sciences as the basis for your programme. You will then be able to select elective modules that fit with your interests. The modules offered reflect the research strengths of the School and are concentrated in pure mathematics (especially algebra and combinatorics), probability and statistics, dynamical systems, and networks. You can study mostly pure mathematics, pure and applied mathematics, or mathematics with statistics.
