The School of Mathematical Sciences offers additional qualifications to all our postgraduate students to make sure they get the best out of their postgraduate study.
MSc Financial Mathematics and MSc Financial Computing students can gain the Bloomberg Market Concepts qualification as part of successful completion of the module Financial Instruments and Markets. MSc Mathematics and MSc Data Analytics students will also have the option to take the Bloomberg Market Concepts qualification alongside their programme. All students will have access to Bloomberg terminals in our computing lab.
Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is an industry standard e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets. BMC consists of 3 sections — Core Concepts (includes four modules – Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities), Getting Started on the Terminal and Portfolio Management.
All postgraduate Maths students have the opportunity to take the prestigious Microsoft Office Specialist qualification. Being certified as a Microsoft Office Specialist demonstrates you have the skills needed to get the most out of Office and is a great addition to your CV.
The School of Mathematical Sciences also offers a wide selection of seminar series and is involved in seminar series at other colleges and universities in London.
