Prof. Isabelle Mareschal
Isabelle Mareschal is co-Director of HEAL Doctoral Training Programme and is a Professor of Visual Cognition and Psychology at Queen Mary University of London. She is also the Director of Research for the School of Behavioural and Biological Sciences in the Faculty of Science and Engineering. She has a strong track record of academic supervison and has secured multiple project grants from the MRC, Leverhulme Trust, British Academy, ESRC and Waterloo Foundation. Her research investigates how adversity- through forced displacement, climate change, or food poverty- impacts child and adolescent development, with a focus on cognition and well-being. She combines behavioural measurements with eye tracking, physiological measures and validated questionnaires. She also contributes to the evaluation of psychological interventions in the Global South, with a focus on refugees. Her work spans the UK, Jordan, Uganda and Madagascar.
