Barts Cancer Institute

Barts Cancer Institute (BCI) is part of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry and one of the top five cancer research centres in the UK. Our overriding objective is to ensure that our research – which aims to identify ways to prevent cancer and develop better diagnostic techniques and treatments – is relevant to and will impact on cancer patients.

Together with the Centre for Cancer Prevention at Queen Mary’s Wolfson Institute of Population Health, BCI forms the Cancer Research UK (CRUK) Barts Centre - one of 15 CRUK Centres of Excellence. Find out more below on our CRUK Barts Centre webpages.

Our vitality depends on nurturing the new generation of scientists who will continue to make an impact on cancer research.  As such, we offer a spectrum of training opportunities, from placements for undergraduate students, to postgraduate taught and research programmes. Find out more on our study with us pages.
