Planning your journey to Queen Mary

Where am I going? Our address is Queen Mary University of London, 327 Mile End Road, London, E1 4NS.

London is served by six airports which are all easily accessible from the city centre. Here is a quick guide to travelling into central London from the busiest three (and the ones you're most likely to be travelling to).

Heathrow - At Heathrow, you can connect immediately to the London underground. Join the Picadilly line, which you can ride to Holborn, then change for the Central line to Mile End. You can also pay a little bit extra for the Heathrow Express which will take you to Paddington Station. From there you can connect to the Hammersmith & City line to Mile End.

Gatwick - You can take the Gatwick Express to Victoria station or opt for the cheaper Thameslink train to Blackfriars, and change for the District line to Mile End.

Stansted - To travel from Stansted, you will need to book a ticket on the Stansted Express or a National Express coach. The Stansted Express takes you to Liverpool Street station, which is just a short hop away from Mile End on either the Hammersmith & City or Central Line.The A7 National Express coach stops at Mile End

Remember that travelling on public transport is much cheaper if you use an Oyster card or contactless card! Paper tickets can often cost more than double an Oyster fare for the same journey. You can get an Oyster card at any airport or station.

You can use apps such as Citymapper or Google Maps to help you plan your journey!

Social programme

We have organised a schedule of events that we hope fit everyone's interests and budgets - from a visit to Buckingham Palace to a night at Junkyard Golf Club! We have now released our social programme of events for 2019. The social programme events are not compulsory, but they are a great way to meet your fellow students and relax after a day of classes. Some events are free, and some events come with a cost. For the ticketed events, you can register for free on Eventbrite, then head to Room E09 when you’re on campus to pay for your place and collect your ticket.
