First-time visitors to Queen Mary’s Mile End campus can’t help but notice the historical cemetery situated in the centre of the campus.
Located within the grounds of the Mile End campus and surrounded by modern buildings, the unique Grade II-listed Novo or Nuevo Beth Chaim Cemetery is one of only two exclusively Sephardic – Spanish and Portuguese – cemeteries remaining in England. The burial site is one of the campus’s more unique features.
