Project title: Biochemical Characterisation of Bacterial Ubiquitin Ligases

Summary: In the fight against bacterial infection modification of proteins with ubiquitin plays an important role in innate immunity. Pathogens have developed strategies to evade this defense mechanism. The aim of my research project is to understand the role of ubiquitin conjugation at the interface of host-pathogen interactions and to elucidate the mechanisms how bacterial ubiquitin ligases modify host target proteins in molecular detail.
