Research Passports

Information on requesting a Research Passport

Some research students may need a Research Passport before they can conduct research in organisations such as the NHS. A Research Passport may be required as part of pre-engagement checks for research activity in NHS or similar settings.

If a DBS check is required for the Research Passport process, the DBS check must be completed first. The standard AskQM DBS process should be followed.

Once the DBS check has been completed and the DBS certificate has been verified, the student should provide their Research Passport application form to the Frontline Team member who completed their DBS check, they can then complete Section 5 of the application form.

Students should confirm Research Passport requirements with their supervisor, principal investigator, department, research governance contact or the external organisation before starting the DBS process.
