Have autonomous robots started killing in war?

Published:

A number of publications tentatively have recently declared, that killer robots may have hunted down humans autonomously for the first time, based on a UN report from the Libyan civil war. Dr Elke Schwarz, a Senior Lecturer in Political Theory at Queen Mary said: "In my work I try and show that the use of these types of systems is very likely to exacerbate violent action as an ‘easier’ choice. There is critical mass building amongst nations and international organizations to push for a ban for systems that have the capacity to autonomously identify, select and attack targets.”
