Dr Lee Jones, Reader of International Politics at Queen Mary, discusses Sam Gyimah’s proposal for a price comparison system for higher education. “No measure of teaching quality has ever been devised, so what we have instead are extremely crude measures”, Dr Jones says. He gives the example of graduate earnings, which are affected by gender, race and class.
