Published:

Dr Lee Jones, Reader of International Politics at Queen Mary, discusses Sam Gyimah’s proposal for a price comparison system for higher education. “No measure of teaching quality has ever been devised, so what we have instead are extremely crude measures”, Dr Jones says. Dr Jones argues that “consumerist ideology is really corrosive of education…If we went back to the previous system where education was understood as a public good that was publicly funded, we wouldn’t have money being wasted on this kind of misselling.”
