Alumni stories

Meet our alumni

Owen Hibberd, Paediatric Emergency Medicine

Studying on the Queen Mary PEM MSc has been one of the best decisions of my career. The format of an online forum supported by weekly [recorded] tutorials has allowed me to find time to enjoy studying alongside what is already a busy work schedule. This has given me the privilege of learning with colleagues from all over the world and from the faculty from QMUL and DFTB who are inspirational pioneers in medical education. The modules cover a wide range of topics in Paediatric Emergency Medicine and allow detailed exploration of key presentations. There is also a focus on critical appraisal and knowledge translation, which helps to build skills in both formal and informal academic writing, and multi-media presentation. I genuinely feel that the reading, writing, and reflection undertaken throughout this course will be help me in delivering compassionate and evidence-based care to children and their families, and in knowing how to share such approaches with the wider medical community.

Shenelle Soyer, Paediatric Emergency Medicine

Being part of this group has been a joy, and all members of this incredible faculty have made it the best experience possible! Joining this programme is one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Spyridon Karageorgos, Paediatric Emergency Medicine

The student community is fantastic and supportive. This course also has a supportive faculty and lots of opportunity to enhance your knowledge and acquire skills (infographic design, presentation skills, critical appraisal of the literature). You are not only part of the MSc family but also of the DFTB family.

Susie Rhind, Paediatric Emergency Medicine

This programme of study allows for deeper exploration into paediatric clinical practice in a variety of settings. The format of the modules affords the opportunity to gain different perspectives when exploring the learning content, because each student focuses on a different area of the task provided which enriches learning. The students are not only from different professions, but also different areas and this allows for excellent discussion around various approaches to care. The internal and external faculty are specialists in their area which enhances the credibility of the programme. The programme has the unique flair we've come to expect from Don't Forget The Bubbles which promotes creativity, inspiration and confidence when presenting material to others.

Joe Mullaly, Paediatric Emergency Medicine

I found the course greatly improved my ability to actively engage with current literature while providing the opportunity to develop knowledge translation skills, excellent in communicating the evidence to colleagues. What I have learnt from this course, I feel, has genuinely made me a better clinician.
