In the latest in the Mile End Institute's 'In Conversation' series, we are delighted to be joined by the Shadow Health Secretary, Wes Streeting MP.

In the latest in our ‘In Conversation’ series – which has previously featured high-profile politicians such as Ken Clarke, Diane Abbott, and David Lammy – we are delighted to be joined by the Shadow Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting MP.

To mark the publication of his debut book, One Boy, Two Bills and a Fry Up: A Memoir of Growing Up and Getting On, Wes will be talking to Farah Hussain about his early life in Stepney, becoming the first in his family to go to university having read History at Selwyn College, Cambridge, his career in the third sector, and being a local councillor in Redbridge.

Wes will also be talking about becoming the Member of Parliament for Ilford North at 32 years of age, spending five years on the backbenches as well as the state of the Labour Party today and what it is like to serve in Sir Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet. Finally, Farah will be asking Wes about the challenges and opportunities facing East London in the coming years.

This event will be held in the Peston Lecture Theatre in the Graduate Centre at Queen Mary University of London, which is number 18 on this map of the Mile End campus. It is open to all. Doors will open at 5.40pm and we aim to start at 6pm sharp.
