About the Role

The School of Politics and International Relations is seeking an exceptional scholar for the role of Lecturer in Politics and Gender (Teaching and Research). We welcome applications from those researching the intersection of politics and gender in all its diversity across the disciplines of Politics and International Relations. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise that complements the School’s existing research strengths.

About You

You will have a PhD (or equivalent) in Politics, International Relations, or relevant Social Sciences/Humanities area and a developing reputation for research at the intersection of politics/international relations, and gender. You will have some experience of developing and teaching modules in (international) politics and gender at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. You will have relevant experience of supervising and advising students. You will have an understanding of the opportunities and challenges involved in teaching a diverse student cohort. Experience of contributing to citizenship roles in a large, dynamic school is desirable.

The School of Politics and International Relations at Queen Mary University of London is one of the UK’s leading Politics and International Relations departments. It was ranked 7th overall among UK higher education institutions in the 2022 REF. The School has grown rapidly over the past five years and is now home to 60+ academic staff. It has recently expanded to include Sociology as well as Politics and International Relations in its teaching and research. It is home to a highly diverse cohort of students and offers a broad-ranging and methodologically plural curriculum in the fields of Politics and International Relations.
