About the Role

Applications are invited for a Wellcome Trust funded Research Technician position within the William Harvey Research Institute (WHRI), Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry (FMD), Queen Mary University of London. The available position is within the Centre for Microvascular Research, an internationally respected group of ~40 researchers with established expertise in the fields of inflammation and vascular biology. The appointed person will be working within the group of Professor Sussan Nourshargh that focusses on deciphering the molecular basis of leukocyte-blood vessel wall interactions. The principal responsibilities of the post are to support development and application of advanced image analysis methods for investigating neutrophil behavior in vivo.

About You

Applicants must be enthusiastic graduates with experience in histological techniques, such as preparing and immunostaining vibratome sections, and confocal microscopy. Experience in use of advanced image analysis methods is essential. Knowledge of other basic laboratory methods will be advantageous.

The Centre for Microvascular Research is based on the Charterhouse Square Campus of the Medical School, offers newly refurbished laboratories, cutting edge imaging facilities and is located in the heart of the City of London. The William Harvey Research Institute leads major international programmes into the mechanisms of cardiovascular, inflammatory and endocrine diseases. FMD is home to one of the UK’s most prestigious Medical Schools and QMUL has been a member of the elite research active Russell Group of Universities since 2012.

The post is full time and fixed term appointment for 3 years. The position is available for immediate start. The starting salary will be Grade 2, £27,979 per annum.
