More information 

The Tata Consultancy Services Digital Explorers Bursary will be awarded to 10 female students and 10 students from low-income households studying for a BSc Computer Science during this academic year.  The bursary will be to the value of £3,000 for selected students during the first year of their undergraduate studies.  

Eligibility criteria 

Students must be eligible to pay Home tuition fees as assessed by Student Finance England or equivalent funding body and be either: 

  • a female student  

and/or 

  • a student from a household where the income is less than £35,000 as assessed in their application for UK government student finance.* 

Other conditions:  

  • Students must be enrolled in year 1  
  • This is a one-off payment in your first year. Students should be able to finance the remainder of their tuition fees and living expenses 
  • Students must be a first-time entrant to Queen Mary 
  • Students must complete the application form available below.

 

Selection 

Applications for this bursary will be reviewed by an academic panel and where there are more eligible applicants than there are bursaries available, we will assess and select students based on their UCAS tariff score and the 250-word statement provided as part of the application process.  

 *If you are applying for the low income household bursary, please ensure our Bursaries team have received your means-tested assessment from the Student Loans Company. We cannot award the bursary without this evidence.

Applications are now open.  

To apply, please download and complete the TCS Digital Explorers bursary application form [DOC 195KB] and submit by email toioc@qmul.ac.uk  before the deadline. Late applications will not be considered.  

Please note:  

  1. Selection for the award will be made based on information provided by candidates in their bursary applications, so it is essential that all requisite information is given. Incomplete applications will not be considered and will be withdrawn from the selection process. 
  2. Requests for supporting evidence may be made to enhance a student’s application. If further documentation is required, students will be contacted via email between the 8-10 December 2021. A deadline for providing the documentation will be given and if this is not met, regretfully the application will be withdrawn. 
  3. Successful candidates will be informed of the outcome via email from the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science after 15 December.
