Queen Mary University launches conversion MSc to help non-STEM graduates enter AI field

Meeting industry demand for AI talent 

Designed to address the UK’s skills gap in AI and Data Science, the programme aims to equip graduates with the technical and ethical understanding needed to thrive as an AI Specialist. With government investment pouring into AI education and infrastructure, demand for qualified professionals has never been higher. 

In its 2025 Digital Leadership Report, Nash Squared finds that 52% of UK tech leaders said they were struggling to fill AI-related roles. Additionally, an impressive 83% of UK businesses are prepared to offer higher wages to individuals possessing AI competencies, reflecting the high value placed on these skills (UK Future Workforce Index 2024).

“Skills in AI can open so many doors in the job market. We’re excited to offer this degree programme to people from non-technical backgrounds and help them supercharge their skillsets for the 21st century.” 

From fundamentals to real-word application 

The course will focus on key industry areas - from Programming and Data Analysis to Deep Learning and Neural Networks - while also tackling the real-world implications of AI through dedicated training in ethical and responsible design.
