Abstract: Monte Carlo search algorithms are Artificial Intelligence algorithms that combine learning and search to solve difficult problems. They were notably used in AlphaGo, the Go program that defeated the world champion. We will explore how these algorithms can be applied to molecule design, molecule synthesis, and the modeling of biological systems. These three healthcare applications correspond to challenging problems in Artificial Intelligence, and Monte Carlo search provides an efficient way to find solutions to them.
Bio: Prof. Tristan Cazenave currently works at the Laboratory for Analysis and Modeling Systems for Decision Support (LAMSADE), Paris Dauphine University. Tristan does research in Artificial Intelligence. He is the inventor of Nested Monte Carlo Search.
The talk will be followed by Q&A and a catered buffet lunch in the Laws foyer.
