Sarah Carney is the Sport and Human Rights researcher at the UNESCO Chair in inclusive sport, physical activity and physical education at Munster Technological University. Sarah’s research focuses on increasing engagement between rightsholders, the sports sector and human rights bodies at national, regional and international levels. Her work aims to leverage the intersections between sports and human rights and the Sustainable Development Goals and increase awareness among sport and policy actors of human rights in and through sport. This work encompasses the right to participate in sport, the protection of human rights in sport, and the contribution of sport towards other rights. Sarah develops and delivers on human rights education and training as well as contributing towards policy conversations in the space.
