ELAINE C. FLORES RAMOS (QMUL) Bio Link LSHTM CGMH

I am a Peruvian physician, epidemiologist, PhD candidate at the Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM). I am a member of the Centre for Global Mental Health (CGMH). My doctoral thesis investigates the effects related to the phenomenon of "El NiƱo" on mental health in Tumbes, Peru and its association with social capital as a resilience tool. This research follows a previous study on social capital associated with chronic posttraumatic stress disorder in the survivors of the Pisco earthquake, Peru in 2007. I have experience lecturing and tutoring in postgraduate level in Peru and UK. I have several years of professional experience in clinical research and studies project management. I am especially interested in mental health in vulnerable populations, maternal health, social inequalities, crises and disasters and health problems related to the environment.
