Purpose of the conference
The Annual Conference of the ALT offers an opportunity for academics, professionals and practitioners to convene and exchange ideas, share successful or emergent practices, and provides opportunities to collaborate across the sector in order to prepare our learners for the future.
The conference will focus on pedagogical innovations related to teaching and assessment, human-centred legal education, and the development of emerging skills and competencies into the core law curriculum: from soft skills and professional ethics training to digital lawyering and entrepreneurial skills, including the use of AI and other technologies.
At the 61st Annual Conference, which took place at the University of Exeter in April 2026, it was announced that the host university for the 2027 ALT Annual Conference would be Queen Mary University of London. It will take place in-person at Queen Mary University of London's Mile End campus.
