In the 2026 National Student Survey (NSS), the School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences has achieved outstanding results across several subject areas, demonstrating our commitment to delivering an exceptional student experience through high-quality teaching and learning support.
Standout results across our programmes
Our undergraduate programmes received top recognition across London in key areas of the National Student Survey:
- Biology: 1st in London for Learning Resources
- Biomedical Sciences: 1st in London for Teaching on my Course
- Genetics: 1st in London for Learning Resources
These achievements reflect the dedication of our academic and professional services staff, who work closely with students to create an engaging, supportive and inspiring learning environment.
‘I am very pleased to receive such positive and helpful feedback from our latest set of final year SBBS students. Our highest response rate to date of 79% for the survey is great and it reassures us that we are hearing from the majority of our students. Our students scored us particularly highly compared to the sector average for the questions in the theme ’Student Voice’ which is great to hear! Feedback for our Biomedical Science degree was particularly good, with positive responses from 90 percent or more of respondents in four out of the survey’s seven themes. We are also seeing continuing increased satisfaction across lots of our degrees and areas. We are pleased that the changes and new initiatives we put in place after listening to previous student feedback have made a difference! We are now focusing on examining the feedback across all areas and all degrees to identify the things that our students really appreciate to expand on and areas where feedback shows we can put action plans in place to enhance student experience'
- Michelle West, Head of School for Biological and Behavioural Sciences
