Dr Ron Cutler comments on health risks at childrens' farms

A second children's farm in Surrey has closed following an E.coli outbreak that left 14 children ill in hospital. Why some question whether such attractions days are numbered, Dr Ron Cutler from the SBCS believes sheltering children from farmyards carries even more risk. “Petting zoos are inherently good because they allow people to build up resistance to whatever animals happen to carry. What we should be doing, and are researching here is better hand-washing procedures.”
