Profile

Before joining Queen Mary School of Politics and International Relations, I was a Maria Zambrano Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences at the Pompeu Fabra University and an affiliated researcher at the Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI). I lectured in critical security studies at the School of International Relations at the University of St Andrews.  My PhD in International Relations Theory is from King’s College London. I have further training in International Security, Anthropology and Multimodal Methodologies from Oxford University and Sciences Po Paris.

Research

Research Interests:

My research is primarily nested in International Relations but takes an interdisciplinary approach that draws upon critical social theory and anthropology. My primary focus centres on international responses to crises and violence: I interrogate security practices and all those mechanisms of government that aim at countering threats and taming uncertainty in so-called exceptional times.
