Professor Tim Bale was interviewed on BBC World Service programme Newsday where he discussed how the uncertainty of Theresa May’s position will affect Brexit. He said: “I think clearly no government wants to operate with speculation about the person who is supposed to be leading it. It matters in part because it appears that some Brexiteers may be willing to vote for her deal if she offers to sacrifice herself, to say that once its gone through she will stand down as Conservative leader and then give someone else a chance to negotiate the rest of the Brexit process.”
