Gender gap in attitudes towards Brexit

Published:

Professor Rainbow Murray appeared on BBC News at Five to discuss Green Party MP Caroline Lucas’s  suggested "emergency cabinet" consisting of women opposed to a no-deal Brexit. She said: “Bringing more women in will definitely help. I’m not an advocate of all women cabinets, I prefer 50 50 gender equality which I think would have been perhaps less successful at grabbing headlines but perhaps more effective in advocating a way forward. I think what has been useful about this is that it’s drawn attention to the fact that there is a gender gap in attitudes towards Brexit. If only women had voted in the 2016 referendum then we would have remained.”
