Boris Johnson’s social media video strategy

Professor of Politics, Professor Tim Bale appeared on BBC Sussex to discuss the strategy behind Boris Johnson’s social media videos during the election campaign. Professor Bale said: “There is the slight possibility that its already been scripted and mapped out. If you look carefully at the video, you see the Conservative party’s election promises on posters down the corridors in which he is walking to make his cup of tea. It’s all very put together, but the way it’s put together is designed to make it look authentic, and that is the key thing that all these videos try to do. They try to cut through by suggesting that their man or their woman is somehow more real than the others.”
