Professor Tim Bale, Tory London mayor shortlist lacks big-name candidates


The Conservatives have one shot at preventing the re-election of London’s Labour mayor Sadiq Khan and they appear to be pinning their chances on former youth worker and one-time prime ministerial adviser Shaun Bailey. Tim Bale, Politics Professor at Queen Mary said: “You can probably judge the party’s assessment of its chances by the profile of the candidates who’ve put themselves up for selection. That doesn’t mean it thinks there’s a zero chance of winning. But it does mean it probably doesn’t rate them that much higher.”
