Professor Tim Bale, Political work experience

Published:

Tim Bale, Professor in Politics at Queen Mary, was interviewed on Daily Politics about unpaid political placements. Professor Bale said: “If what Jeremy Corbyn is suggesting does go through, it basically means that our scheme at Queen Mary University of London and probably schemes at other universities will have to end. There is no financing available from universities to do this. So unless IPSA or the Labour Party itself comes in and says we’ll help our MP’s pay students then I’m afraid these schemes will have to end. That will be a pity because for example, we have 29 finalists on this year’s scheme and 16 of those 29 were from BAME backgrounds.”
