Dr Sophie Harman, Bringing to life the reality of living as a woman with HIV/Aids in rural Tanzania

Dr Sophie Harman writes in The Conversation about her new feature film PILI, which tells the story of HIV positive women in rural Tanzania. “These women face a range of challenges: stigma from the community, self stigma, access and adherence to treatment, disclosure to partners, and prevention of mother to child transmission. They also face the additional burden of having to care for children, family and friends in the community affected by the disease,” she says.
