Sarah Wolff was interviewed by RFI (Radio France International) on the creation of the European Border and Coast Guard that became operational on 6th October 2016. She argues this new entity continues to bear the same deficiencies of its predecessor Frontex, the European border management agency. One particular weak point is that the management of EU borders continues to be a shared competence between the EU and its member states. Yet this new entity does not create a real system for shared accountability.
