Professor Tim Bale, Labour’s Tom Watson steps into limelight

As the UK’s main opposition party gropes for new leadership after its crushing defeat in this month’s general election, Tom Watson has emerged as a key player who may be the party’s deputy leader by September – reports the FT. Professor Tim Bale said: “There are some people who absolutely love him, he has been very crafty during the election, positioning himself as a real grassroots campaigner. Then there are others who see him as a throwback to the bad old days of machine politics under Gordon Brown.”
