Dr Rainbow Murray, How the major UK parties are trying to court women’s votes

Women comprise 52 per cent of the British electorate, so it’s fair to say these votes will decide this election. According to Rainbow Murray, “This is a fact that none of the parties has ignored. All three main parties (Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat) have written a number of policies into their manifestos that are targeted directly at women.” She concludes: “Overall, women are spoilt for choice when it comes to promises, although the track records of the different parties might influence the extent to which women can trust that the promises will be kept.”
