Dr Christopher Phillips was quoted in Bloomberg Business Week. America is backing Turkey as it seeks to take a leading role in organising international pressure on Syria to end growing violence. The importance of Turkey to the US has been “magnified” by the global and regional situation, said Dr Chris Phillips.
Turkey is “placing itself as the key bridging state between the West and the wider Muslim and Arab world,” said Phillips. For that to work, he said, Turkey “needs close relationships with the US”.
