BRANCH OUT | TALK: THE VALUES OF HOUSEPLANTS: A CONVERSATION WITH CABINET CULTURES’ CURATORS

When: Wednesday, July 12, 2023, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM
Where: The Garden Museum

This talk is part of the IHSS Environmental Future research programme and the Garden Museum's new Branch Out programme, a series of free events and activities exploring gardening, art, floristry, plant science, history, design, and more!

Join sociologist Dr Giulia Carabelli and artist-researcher Matthew Beach, co-curators of our current community wall display entitled Cabinet Cultures: Cultivating Aesthetic, Ecological, and Heritage Value in Human-Houseplant Relations, for afternoon storying the duo’s collaboration with one another and tropical/subtropical plants.

You will learn more about vegetal geographies and critical plant studies, how human-houseplant kinship can sprout through research, and the importance of cross-industry partnership and collaboration in impacting how humans value houseplants.

Our Branch Out programme has been made possible thanks to funding from Arts Council England
