Led by Professor Ruth Dobson, Professor of Clinical Neurology/ Consultant Neurologist, the Centre for Preventive Neurology (CPN) has brought together an expert team to carry out revolutionary new research into dementia, Multiple Sclerosis, and Parkinson’s Disease.

Monday's launch symposium began with a fascinating insight into the work of the UK Biobank from Professor Paul Matthews from Imperial College London. Other speakers included Professor Dobson, Professor Claudia Cooper from the Centre for Psychiatry and Mental Health at Queen Mary, and researchers describing their studies relating to dementia, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and other neurological disorders.

Addressing inequalities in health care provision and the imperative to include diverse populations in genetic and other studies were a key theme of the day. The event concluded with a lively panel discussion on the future of research in neurological conditions.

More information about the work of the CPN can be found on the website of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health.
