Nine academics from Queen Mary University of London presented at the Sino-UK Symposium attended by prestigious researchers and enterprises in thermoelectrics and advanced materials from China and the United Kingdom.

The Sino-UK Symposium on Advanced Materials and Structures and UK-China Partnership Forum in Themoelectrics and Clean Energy took place in Xi’an, China from November 5 -7.
This year, the event was jointly hosted by Queen Mary University of London, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), British Embassy Beijing, and Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base (CAIB).
The event aims to establish a sustainable network, develop structured and productive sectoral partnerships, and support technology commercialisation of joint research and development projects.
Professor Wen Wang, Vice-Principal and Executive Dean (Science & Engineering), said: “It is an honour to have nine academics from Queen Mary University of London speaking at the Sino-UK Symposium. This recognises Queen Mary as a leading institution within the field.”
Queen Mary’s School of Engineering and Materials Science and the Queen Mary–NPU Joint Research Institute of Advanced Materials and Structures were involved in the organisation of the event.
The Queen Mary-NPU Joint Research Initiative was formed in 2017 and focuses on five research themes:
It helps underpin the teaching being delivered by the Queen Mary-NPU Joint Educational Institute (JEI), which includes two BEng programmes in Materials Science and Engineering, and Polymers Materials Science and Engineering.
Earlier this year, Queen Mary opened an International Centre for Teaching and Learning (ICTL) with, Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU).
The Centre, which launched on 25 June, formed part of the Queen Mary Engineering School of NPU (QMES), a Sino-foreign Joint Educational Institute. Its aim will be to establish best teaching and learning practice across STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and mathematics).
