IGALA 11

Safe Space Participation Guidelines

IGALA11 fully endorses the anti-harassment policy developed by the Association of Computation Linguistics, reproduced below. We adopt this policy for all activities and events related to IGALA11, including the uploading of on-demand content (individual papers), comments and questions posted in public forums, behaviour during live events (plenaries, workshops), and any other communications or contacts that arise from participation in IGALA11.

Online content and behaviour will be moderated by the IGALA11 organising team, and any violations of this policy will be investigated and sanctioned.

If you have any questions about this policy or wish to make a complaint, you can contact Erez Levon or any member of the IGALA Organising Team.

-----------------------

The open exchange of ideas, the freedom of thought and expression, and respectful scientific debate are central to the aims and goals of [IGALA11]. These require a community and an environment that recognizes the inherent worth of every person and group, that fosters dignity, understanding, and mutual respect, and that embraces diversity. For these reasons, [IGALA11] is dedicated to providing a harassment-free experience for all participants.

Harassment and hostile behaviour are unwelcome at [IGALA11] … and affiliated on-line discussions. This includes: speech or behaviour that intimidates, creates discomfort, or interferes with a person's participation or opportunity for participation. We aim for [IGALA11] to be an environment where harassment in any form does not happen, including but not limited to: harassment based on race, gender, religion, age, colour, appearance, national origin, ancestry, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. [In the context of IGALA11], harassment includes degrading verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, harassing photography or recording, and unwelcome sexual attention. The policy is not intended to inhibit challenging scientific debate, but rather to promote it through ensuring that all are welcome to participate in shared spirit of scientific inquiry. Vexatious complaints and wilful misuse of this procedure will render the complainant subject to the same sanctions as a violation of the policy.
