IGALA 11

Conference Format

IGALA11 will be held online. The conference will include both pre-recorded “on demand” content and various live events.

ON-DEMAND CONTENT

All individual presentations (20-minute talks and contributions to organized panels) will be pre-recorded and uploaded by authors in March. Recordings will be organized thematically and made available as on-demand content two weeks prior to the conference. Registered participants will be able to access all pre-recorded content, and to leave comments/questions for authors in a public forum (similar in structure to YouTube). Recordings will remain available for up to 6 weeks after the conference.

LIVE EVENTS

Live IGALA11 events will take place over three half days from 22 – 24 June 2021. Live events will include:

  • 4 plenary lectures
  • 2 postgraduate workshops (details to be confirmed)
  • 16 live discussion sessions (30 minutes each)
    • Discussion sessions for each of the 6 organized panels
    • 10 open discussion sessions on current themes in language, gender and sexuality studies (themes to be confirmed)
  • IGALA Meeting and Awards Ceremony

All live events will be recorded and available on the conference website for up to 6 weeks. Live events will be staggered across mornings and afternoons (British time) in an effort to accommodate differences in time zones among participants.

In addition to these organized events, we also anticipate hosting an online space for informal socializing among conference participants (during, e.g., breaks). Information will be posted when it is available.
